Question about anxiety and medications...........?

I currently take the antidepressant Remeron. It works very well for me, and I am quite pleased with it. My depression has been in remission since January, I've gained weight (I was previously underweight), and, oddly enough, it's even helped with my allergies (no kidding! It's sort of like an antihistamine, so it's not terribly unusual). However, recently, I've started sleepwalking. I'm a young adult, so this is rather unusual, and since there have been no other changes to my diet or lifestyle, I have to assume that it's the Remeron. I sleepwalked some as a child and young teenager (very infrequently, about once or twice a year), and my brother sleepwalked nearly every night until he was about ten. It's pretty infrequent (about once a week at the moment, according to my housemates), and is a fairly recent development (this first happened about a month ago). I haven't done anything too dangerous, like attempt to drive, yet, but I have cooked and eaten food and gone outside in my sleep. I didn't think it was a huge deal, probably because I grew up with my brother always sleepwalking and just got used to it, but my psychiatrist became very worried when I told her about this. If I start sleepwalking more frequently than once a week, she wants to switch my medication. This is not something I want to do--Remeron has helped me so much, and there is really no medication on the market like it, at least in the US. I had abnormally bad reactions to SSRIs (severe insomnia, i.e., going without sleep for three days at a time; flu-like symptoms; severe constipation [I couldn't even have a small bowel movement without the use of a laxative]; significant weight loss; nearly constant dizziness so bad I could barely walk from one room to another, let alone drive or do anything productive, etc.), so switching to something like Lexapro or Zoloft is not an option. Also, similar meds, like SNRIs, are out. Ideally, I would like to keep taking the Remeron and just add something else to it to get rid of the sleepwalking. Off-label would be fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I've read that Wellbutrin and Remeron are often taken together. Would Wellbutrin's stimulating effect help to take the edge off some of Remeron's sedative effect, and therefore help with the sleepwalking?I would like to switch to a similar drug, but Remeron is the only drug of its class approved in the US! Is there any drug available in the US that works similarly to Remeron, or even a cocktail of drugs I can take to get a similar effect? Again, off-label is fine, so long as it's reasonable enough to get my shrink to agree with it.Finally, are there any home remedies I can try for sleepwalking, or anything I can do to keep it under control? I don't live alone, so I do have people to keep me from getting into dangerous situations. There's a bell on my bedroom door to alert my housemates that I'm up and about. Is there anything else I/we can do?Thanks in advance!



Sleepwalking on Remeron--what to do (long)?

I would like some advise from someone who has experienced being on these meds together. Taking them all in the morning is too much. I no longer have health insurance or I would ask my doctor. On my last visit, my doctor didn't have a problem with experimenting (spreading the meds throughout the day). There is no fear of overdose in my case. The levels are too low. Perhaps you could let me know of a website that might be helpful. I am looking for someone in a similar situation.Thanks for your help.



I am taking 200mg of Zoloft, 150mg of Wellbutrin, and .5mg of xanax(when needed).?

I was talking Zoloft and Wellbutrin for the past 3 months but recently i started feeling great so when i ran out this last time i didnt refill. Now its been 3 weeks since i last took a pill and i still feel GREAT.. and i just dont know if i still need the meds? Back 3 months ago.. i was severely deppressed and mood swinging and now im fine.. do i go back to my dr and get refills or do i just move on? I would really just love to be off the meds all together.. but i want to make sure i make a healthy decision.. My dr did diagnose me with Bipolar disorder.. but i didnt take any mood stabalizers.. EVER.. so i dont think i am bipolar.. actually i started taking topamex.. but got off right after i started having panic attacks.. so the way i see it.. i was MISDIAGNOSEDDDDD!



should i go back on the meds.. or just stay off? ?

I was wondering if anybody has taken Wellbutrin and Zoloft together with good results. I have major recurrent depression and my doctor just added zoloft to my wellbutrin. I don't have a problem with taking the combination, I was just curious if anybody else had success with both of them? Thanks for your answers.

Long story short! I was on Zoloft 100mgs and just recently switched to Wellbutrin 150mgs. I have been on Wellbutrin for 5 days and I feel very hung over. My head is heavy,dizzy & I can't get myself together. Anyone know if this is temporary side effect and how long should I expect to feel better from my head? I did call my doc. but cannot get any information till tomorrow. So, any information would be appreciated.My doc contacted me and now wants me to start on a low dose of Effexor, what should I expect with this medication, mainly side effects. If you read the original post I was on Zoloft and just recently switched too Wellbutrin, but felt too sick to continue taking so now she wants me on Effexor. I am thinking of not taking anything anymore, what do you think? I suffer from Depression,anxiety attacks & PTSD, I am very irritable and emotional everyday, all day. I've been treated for major depression on and off for about 6 years now. Started with Bupropion (Wellbutrin) and I thought it was working very well. The only thing was at that time, you had to take WellbutrinSR, which needs to be taken twice daily. Now there is WellbutrinXL which can be taken once daily. The regular Wellbutrin needed three daily doses. I was taking 150mg twice a day, which is a pretty standard dose. A year later, they told me I needed to get off. I stopped "cold turkey". A year went by and my depression was back. They put me on Zoloft, 100 mg per day, again a pretty standard dose. It never worked all that much. I was off it within a year and had several years of serious mental problems. Last year, I got back on it just as I was getting my life back together on my own, but my doctor thought 50 mg a day might improve my chance of success. I don't know if it is the meds or me. They want to take me off again. With Zoloft, I spent two weeks on half a dose before quitting.If I am to go to 25mg, I'd like to do it more slowly than 2 weeks. To be honest, I want to get back on Wellbutrin, which really helped the most and I don't know why they took me off it in the first place.Any thoughts as to what to do?
