I'm a 24 yr old married student (poor). I was Diagnosed@ age 9, and started some holistic stuff (nausea). Zoloft and Klonipin @15 (5'5'' 130 lbs) caused 20 lbs gain in 4 mo. Effexor @16, mildly effective @ max dose for 4 years but still gaining weight (180 lb) able to lose weight only thru unhealthy diet, gained it all when I returned to normal active lifestyle/healthy eating. Switched to Celexa when Effex was causing headache/fainting.Lost libido, and gained weight (190 lbs). Cymbalta at 22, same as Celex. Wellbutrin at 23, lost 45 lbs, sex drive normal, less depression but anxiety worsened. Effexor XR at 24, total anorgasmia and gained 20 lbs in 3 mo., symptoms stayed. Tried methyldopa w/ no results 6 wks. Currently, I take only the klonipin to sleep or stop panic attacks. 6 months of therapy was a waste of $. I need a large list of drugs w/ side effects- or personal suggestions. expensive drugs/therapies are not an option right now, and this isn't an issue of lifestyle or dietMy lifestyle isn't the problem. I'm active and eat healthy. I have great relationships with my family and friends. I can't imagine what I could change

Although the letdown can be relieved by taking another dose, this soon becomes a vicious circle. I've stopped taking more pills per day than I was prescribed, however I'm back to my old somber, reclusive self. One of the best things about Provigil is that it helped curb my appetite, and I lost some weight. But if I don't take it, I eat and almost never feel full. Similar to Wellbutrin, which worked, and then stopped working. I love the initial effects of amphetamines- but I don't wish to abuse them- I just wish they would work better! Is there any med out there that might work better for me? Thanks!

I have tried wellbutrin before but still had episodes of agitation and anger. Zoloft was horrible. I lost alot of weight (120 pounds) about 8 yrs ago and now I have gained about 30 back in five months since lexapro. I gained 20 over four months and then we went to 20 mg about 10 days ago and I have gained 10 more pounds, so I know that it is the lexapro. I am about to move to a new city and I plan to see a new doctor there. What to do next? I have never tried prozac...would it help with out the weight gain? I had great success with SAM-e, but I couldn't afford the theraputic dose I needed. I don't have insurance either. I tried celexa too, without success.any help is appreciated. thanks.



gained 30 pound on lexapro in five months...what other meds could I try w/o fear of weight gain?

This is kind of a moot point, since I already went off Wellbutrin (bupropion), but I was curious if anyone else is as sensitive to this as I am?My psychiatrist suggested I try it for my ADHD, since he feels I also have co-morbidities of mild anxiety and depression, and Wellbutrin is recommended for all these (altho it's not a first-choice for ADHD alone). I started with 37.5 mg. for 2 weeks (split pill), then 75 mg for about 2 months. My psych said this is considered a VERY LOW dose; folks often take 150 to 250 mg. daily or even more.Well, even 75 mg. was too much. Despite taking it w/ breakfast, it stuck with me so much that I got "delayed sleep onset". I used to feel sleepy for bedtime by 11p.m., but on Wellbutrin I wasn't sleepy until midnight or 1 a.m.! NOT good when you have to be up early for work! :( I also lost weight, despite eating all the time. I have a naturally fast metabolism and am slim as it is; I felt the extra weight loss was unhealthy & my Dr. agreed.P.S. I ran out of room in the template above. I just wanted to see how common weight loss and/or delayed sleep onset/insomnia is for folks on Wellbutrin. What was your dosage? And did you have to quit taking it because of this? :(As for me, I'm now going to try Strattera, which like Wellbutrin is NOT a stimulant, but *is* a type of "psychostimulant" like Wellbutrin is -- at least that's how I think I understood my Dr.'s explanation. I just hope I don't have a return of the weight loss or insomnia! :( If you have experience with Strattera, I'd be eager to hear about that too.Thanks and happy holidays! :)
