im taking the generic. bupropion sr, 300 mg (150 mg 2x a day). its been a bit over a month since ive started and i like how ive been losing all this weight and it really helps with the depression (not the anxiety, but thats manageable). I dont care about the fact that its giving me mild acne, and the fact that i think its making me have hair loss. what i do care about is not getting enough sleep. it takes at least 2 hours every night to fall asleep. i'll have enough energy during the day, because my mind is active. but my body is exhausted, and i feel it. if that makes sense. my doctor offered sleeping pills, but i told her no. i dont want to have to take a pill to treat the side effects of another pill, and then another to treat the side effects of that. you know what i mean? so i'll try to handle this on my own. i bought some herbal sleeping pills that used to help me for occasional sleeplessness when i wasnt on wellbutrin. its basically just a valerian and hops pill. but i heard hops and antidepressants are not a good mixture so i stopped. i heard melatonin is also not good when youre taking antidepressants. so what over the counter stuff can i take?so benadryl is safe to take daily? and i take wellbutrin 2x a day. one when i wake up and one at night. not sure taking one if i wake up at 10am, and then the other at noon is a good idea.

i need help sleeping with wellbutrin?

I've been smoking now for 15 years and over the years have tried to quit smoking. I tried the patch and gum several times. I tried chantix and after about two weeks on chantix i had to go off as it caused some issues with me. My doctor put me on wellbutrin as it is linked to successfully quit smoking, but i stopped using it when work became very stressful and so did my personal life. I do believe the wellbutrin worked well as i didnt have the urge to smoke but did it out of habit. My job right now has been so stressful and will be for the next few months til february. I tend to flip out when i dont smoke. My friends and co workers want me to quit but when i "flip out" for not having one they cant be around me. I do suffer from severe anxiety and depression and my shrink tells me to not even bother quitting til i get my depression and anxiety under control as that i'm just adding another stressor to my life, and that when i'm not so fragile anymore i can quit. But my primary doctor says to do it now cause of my family history of strokes and heart attacks. So i want to know like when you decided to quit smoking what went on through your head and how you battled it and did you wait til things calmed down in your life? Like i want to know all the what, when, where, why and how?

ex smokers how did you quit please help?

Can not figure these answers out for the life of me!?

Want to hear some honest opinions please. This regarding a personal friend of mine and I want to hear some personal experiences or your thoughts or opinions pls. Thanks!STORY - The girl has chronic pain and takes lots of narcotics a month, Norco and Dilaudid routinely, but has done this for 15+ years. She does not display any type of drug seeking behavior or being an addict, but is dependent on these drugs to function. She keeps her appt every month and takes her medicine as prescribed. She has depressive disorder that set in upon her diagnosis of chronic disease/pain which she is prescribed Wellbutrin SR for X3 yrs now. Now, she has always displayed symptoms of ADHD but recently she has been complaining of "feeling like she is driven by a motor and insomnia". Now I feel like she has had ADHD all of her life and is just now being diagnosed with it. She is 30 yrs old. First her MD started on Straterra, 2 weeks go by and no change. Then onto Concerta, (Ritalin ER type drug) this worked well during the day but she suffered from severe abdominal pain. Then she was changed to Daytrana, (pretty much Ritalin in a patch) but had no effects from this. At this point - her MD went to a medication called "Intuiv" which made her feel lousy but it looks like it is used for ADHD. Now she is started on a medicine called Symbyax. This is really strange for me to understand since it's not used for ADHD at all. She definitely has a diagnosis of adult ADHD medically documented so why isn't her doctor prescribing her the medications that is typically used for adult ADHD?? If the Concerta worked, why wouldn't her doctor prescribe her a short-acting Ritalin or Adderral or Vyvanse?? I guess I'm confused and really wanting to know if she is being penalized for her narcotic use and if you feel this is hindering the MD's decision to adequately treat her?? She is not allowed to go see another doctor for her ADHD because she is under a narcotic contract with her MD and seeing another doctor is prohibited - she has already asked....so is she stuck?? She likes her doctor and doesn't want to change so this isn't an option. She has random drug screens and has always been in compliance with her medication regimen. She has 3 children and works hard. So what's the deal?? Do you think her MD will eventually prescribe her something that is actually used for adult ADHD, which is also a stimulant or a controlled drug, or do you think he'll continue to prescribe all the anti-depressants until she decides to stop seeking treatment?? He must not be concerned with prescribing controlled drugs because he is the one who prescribes her narcotics every month.....Please no rude answers - my friend really needs help/advice and I'm running out of excuses for her doctor! Thanks in advance!Sorry so long, but no other choice! My friend comes to me after each appt. I am a nurse practioner and I know what I would do if I were her caregiver. But we both decided that it would be best to have her see someone else. To not support her when she is upset would be not being her best friend. I simply wanted other's personal experiences pls. Thx.

ADHD and different medicines...?

Hello. My name is Alec. I am 16. Right now I am taking lactimal and wellbutrin, for what I, as well as my family, have suspected to be for Bipolar disorder. But I can't be diagnosed with it since I am not 18. I have all the symptoms. Periods of enormous ecstasy, like I was a god. And then there were the periods of anger and hate. I came down from the happiness so hard, crashing. These were my only two moods. In between was vegetative boredom. I broke things, created much tension within my house, deprived my parents of sleep due to fits of rage and threats of suicide. Also my father is Bipolar. It culminated with him being arrested for taking out a shotgun and threatening to kill me, my mom, and my brother. I feel the medication is helping. Lately, I have no ecstasy feelings. But I think I finally feel what it's like to have a normal everyday happy feeling. Now I wake up with good intentions, not too good with a God complex, but a content feeling with a mentality for working. But I still have spikes where I fell the world come crashing down on me.About 40 minutes ago, I was having a bad, low episode, the first one in about a week. ( A vast improvement from every single day ) But I went radical and stupid and used a butcher knife to slice open my arm 3 times. I have it all bandaged up. I used strong band aids to seal the wounds back together, put gauze pads on with antibiotic cream, washed the wounds, and wrapped it up with medical tape. My question is, is there anything I can do during these low periods to prevent myself from going crazy? I try so hard, but it is if I am a different person in these states. I have different wants, I have a different personality, I have a different psyche. I am trying to get better. So fellow Bipolars, when I feel a low, depressive episode spike about to come, is there anything I can do to really block it? I have tried thinking good thoughts and so much more, but it comes so fast and strong and intense. I wanted to also say I am sorry for my parents. I love them so much yet they have to put up with me. I know I will make them happy one day when I will be better and successful.Thanks.

What to do when you have a depressive episode (bipolar)...?

I am on 150mg of Wellbutrin daily and, to put it simple, feel like it had made me dumb... I think social anxiety is my biggest problem but I was technically diagnosed with clinical depression several years ago. I don't want to be on medication at all but for now... I just need an alternative to Wellbutrin because I am done feeling like an idiot. I'm more easily confused and lose track of what I was thinking WAY more than I used to. =(

What's the best medication for social anxiety/ depression?

I may have a prolactinoma and was wondering if wellbutrin is a dopamine agonist since I read that these types of medications should be used as a first line treatment. I have been taking this medication for 6 months and don't know if it may have caused it in the first place, (the doctor will let me know what steps I should take), or if it is really just a tumor causing it.

Is wellbutrin a dopamine agonist?

I'm 21 and been a alcoholic since 18. I have been on Wellbutrin 150mg and Prozac 20mg for 2 weeks now and I drink maybe 3 times a week on it and take half a log of xanax or a log of xanax while drinking and on my medication. What is wrong with me I'm insane when I'm drinking I don't care if I die the next day I wake up I feel so quilty about my drinking and how it makes me mean im afraid ima end up in jail or the psychward (again) I just can't handle drinking no more its beyond my force nothing makes me happy and I'm pretty sure I'm Bi-Polar. I tryed AA for months I don't like it they tell me I gotta help other alcoholics and I can't even help myself! My sponsor doesn't support taking medication and going to rehab. I have a assesment coming up for rehab this month I can't wait to go it will be the first time being sober since 12 (even just smoking pot and drinking every other weekend or robotripping popping random pills etc.) I thought all this was normal growing up but at 19 and a half I relized I have a problem I am going insane I think about suicide all the time everyday I wake up shaking and in a panic! I just want to be happy I can't go on like this! Is there any hope for me?? I drink alot too cuz I'm very lonely and my bf uses drugs and drinks and I can't seem to break away from him and everyone I know drinks I'm so confused I know I have a problem I want to stop and be happy and be stable mentally physically and spirtually any advice anyone else been through this?? How can I deal with this till I go to rehab. I'm scared I won't make it to rehab with the way I drink and black out its scary!! Thank you. No sarcastic or rude remarks please.
