Wellbutrin XL 450? Am i at risk for more sever side effects?

Trying to find online any info on this topic and cannot seem to locate what I'm looking for. I've been on Wellbutrin XL for going on 3 years now after weight gain on Paxil. I'm just concerned about overall long term effect.



Wellbutrin long term risks and effects?

I thought my Wellbutrin XL had stopped working because I am sleeping more, lack motivation (fair --> better side of poor), increasingly irritable and eating more (hungrier, mindless eating). My old symptoms were sleeping for about 12-14 hours a day, constant anxiety, crying frequently in private, poor hygiene, and essentially merely existing; all have been curbed drastically. I'm on the highest dose. I seem to relapse every time I go off a medication and Wellbutrin seems to be doing what the SSRIs failed to do. Because I cannot afford a seventh relapse (I will likely lose my job), I absolutely do not want to even attempt to go off Wellbutrin again. My doctor suggested Straterra or Effexor. I am unwilling to take the risk that it might not work for me which she trivializes.These new symptoms are consistent with atypical depression. Should I/how do I bring up this possibility? The txs are MAOIs, SSRIs, stimulants and Lamictal. Therapy is to manage depression, can only afford 1 session/mo. I eat well and work out. I am genetically predisposed.I go to therapy once a month which is essentially to manage symptoms. It is expensive ($60/45 minute session). WellXL costs me $30, $20 when they send me $10 off coupon. I eat very well. I eat healthier than anyone I know. Even now that I'm eating more, it's more of the healthy things I already eat. I am physically very active. Even when I'm swamped with work or feel bad, I make myself do something. I force myself because it helps my mood. I used to take sam-e which didn't do anything for me. I later learned that it generally doesn't work for people who don't respond to SSRIs/treatment resistant depression.Please spare me the anti-meds preaching. I and most of my maternal family members wouldn't be here today without it. I was in therapy weekly for several months before my depression got to its very worst. Cognitive behavior therapy which I've had for the last 2 years has allowed me to manage my symptoms well enough to function without klonopin and trazadone.



Do I need new antidepressants or other meds? I have new symptoms and my doctor doesn't really listen to me.

I started taking 150 mg 5 days ago and am a LOT more depressed now! I just had mild depression to begin with. I'm 30 years old, so I don't fall under the increased risk for teens category. Is this just transitory? Or should I stop taking it?

I already have an appointment with my OBGYN to get her input, and my psychiatrist has given me mixed messages. I really don't know what to believe. I know that I don't want to chance putting my unborn child at risk. And just to let you all know, I am not currently pregnant, we have been using other methods until we figure this all out. Any of you out there with experience in this.....PLEASE HELP!!! I am SO lost as to what to do! Neither can I, nor my family live without me on my meds! Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

Meds during Pregnancy...?

I'm currently taking Wellbutrin 150 XL (an antidepressant). I know it says on the bottle not to take alcohol while on the drug and I know many other prescription drugs are like that too.But would it be ok to drink, probably just on one occasion. What exactly are the reasons they say not to consume alcohol and are there any serious dangers or risks if i do it just one time?Thank you in advance
