Are there any anti depressants that don't cause weight gain?

So I was prescribed wellbutrin xl about a month ago and since taking it I have noticed about 8lbs of weight loss. Over the past couple of days I forgot to take my meds and gained all that weight back in two days! Yesterday I took it and I lost about 3 lbs! I know weight loss is a side effect, but this is kinda weird ? Has anyone else had similar problems?? Oh and also keep in mind when this was going on I didnt exercise more or eat less.

I was just prescribed Wellburtin XL 150 mg for depression. My doctor said that this anti-depressant would not cause weight gain. After some research, I found that weight loss is actually a side-effect. It this true?? Does anyone have any stories because I'm really interested, as I need to lose weight :/



Does Wellbutrin XL help you lose weight?

I switched to wellbutrin after being on paxil for several years. Paxil made me gain weight and lose my sex drive. Wellbutrin seemed to work at first but now after being on it for 2 months, I am so angry and irritable all the time for no reason. My doc is tapering me off Wellbutrin and switching me to Prozac 20mg. Anybody out there have this experience with Wellbutrin?



Wellbutrin XL 300mg is making me feel angry & irritable, has anyone experienced this?

I am 18, 5'6", and 135 lbs. I know I am not overweight, but regardless, I am used to being a little slimmer than I am now. I am on a variety of medications, some of which have been changed within the last several months. Over the last 3 months, I've noticed some weight gain even though I have actually increased my activity (I work out for an hour and a half every morning, half of which is cardio boxing). I can't for the life of me seem to lose a simple 5 lbs. Because several of my medication doses have changed recently, I don't know which is most likely to be causing my weight gain. I am seeing my psychiatrist soon and plan to ask him about this, but in the mean time, any insights would be much appreciated.My medications:Adderall XR - 60mgWellbutrin XL - 450mgLexapro - 40mgYaz (but I will be switching to Yasmin at the end of this month)A week ago I stopped taking Abilify (2mg daily) to see if this is the culprit, because I know my little brother gained a lot of weight on Abilify. He was probably on a significantly higher dose, however. I have been told that such a low dose of Abilify is unlikely to cause weight gain, but I am not so sure.My doses of Adderall and Lexapro have been the same for years; I have been on the pill for a year; I've been on Wellbutrin for two years, with one dose increase in the last 6 months (went from 300 to 450). I had been on Abilify for a few months.I know this is a lot of information, so thank you if you are still reading!



Which of my meds is causing me to gain weight?

I am going to be stopping Wellbutrin and starting Cymbalta this next week. I have taken Wellbutrin XL for about 3 years and it worked well til recently. I am going to switch to Cymbalta or possible take them both together depending on how things work. Can anyone give me any long term advice on how Cymbalta works and if it should be taken at night or morning? Does it make you tired or gain weight? I definitely need to lose due to trying Lexapro for 9 weeks I gained and stopped taking it... it made me super tired. Thanks for any input... Can anyone tell me the difference between Wellbutrin vs. Cymbalta?I actually feel great already weaning off the Wellbutrin. My dr. has me taking 1/2 the last 3 days and starting Cymbalta tonight.... I had NO energy and had slept the last 4 months every chance I got. The Wellbutrin definatley stopped working...and just tappering off has mad a world of difference the last couple of days. Has anyone experienced Cymbalta for longer term (6 moths +)?

I am contemplating going off my birth control, the NuvaRing.I am no longer sexually active and am not going to be, so I don't need to be on it for pregnancy reasons.I am just wondering if it's a good idea since it will change my hormones to go off of it. I am also on Lamictal 200mgs, Klonopin 2mgs, and Wellbutrin XL 150mgs.I went on the NuvaRing because my doctor said it wouldn't be processed in the same way my oral meds are. Anyway, I didn't notice any weight gain. That's because I eat healthy. But my weight plateaued. I've heard that once you go on BC you may not gain weight, but it's harder to lose weight.So I'm wondering if it's smart to go off the NuvaRing because I'm not having sex but I'm afraid that it will affect my other meds because of the hormones. But I am also wondering if I will lose weight if I go off it.Help!



Should I go off my birth control?

My doctor had me taking Lexapro for a long time and about 6 months ago he wanted to add Wellbutrin XL. So I didnt feel nothing changed after starting it, so I quit taking the Wellbutrin but as I have been reading that I think I want to try switching from taking the Lexapro to the Wellbutrin for my depression. I already take Ativan for my anxiety. I also read that Wellbutrin dont make a person gain weight which I have gained in the past years and It may be from taking Lexapro so Im gona take a test and switch taking these today and see how I do..Also It might help me with trying to quit smoking!!!



Whats the differance between Lexapro and Wellbutrin XL?

I wake up at night wet with persperation, I am constantly fanning myself because I feel so overwhelming hot and with little or no exertion (doing dishes, preparing a meal, etc.) I become extremely hot, sweating, my face flushes and I feel dizzy. I am a 40 yr old female, with no history of diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. I have gained a substantial amount of weight in a relatively short period of time - approx. 40 pounds. I'm finding it impossible to walk for exercise or work out due to this, not to mention, just normal, light everyday activities. I take generic Wellbutrin XL 1x daily and one .5 mg generic Klonopin at bedtime. I have great difficulty sleepingm which is progressively getting worse. Lately I have been up all night, with as little as 2 hours of sleep a night. My insurance does not start until July 2009 and I am very concerned about this as I live in a very hot climate. Has anyone heard of a medical condition or side effect of medications that could make a person overheat (and to an extreme degree)?
