I started taking generic Wellbutrin 2 weeks ago and i'm feeling whacky, does this go away?
I have horrible anxiety and have been taking xanax for years. My Dr. recently recommended I try an anti-depressant to help with the anxiety over the long-term. However, he has now prescribed four different types: first Effexor, then Lexapro, Cymbalta and now Pristiq. The first three I tried (at different times, of course) and had a constant headache throughout each trial. It would NOT go away. So much that I could not function - and I have a 5 month old, so that is definitely not an option for me! I am not too terrified of the migrane to try Pristiq - and have not even gone to the Pharmacy to pick it up! My sister also suffers from anxiety and was given an anti-depressant called Wellbutrin. I don't know very much about it, but I do know that it comes in a generic brand (which is great for my bank account!) She had the same headaches on several she tried before Wellbutrin, so I am thinking this might work for me! I want to recommend to my Dr. that I try this anti-depressant but I am afraid (and have anxiety...ha!) about suggesting this drug to him. I am worried he will think I am crossing the line, making recommendations when he did not suggest them. Does anyone know if this Wellbutrin is different than the others I have tried....is it even worth bringing up? Ugh - I know, I sound like a basketcase...I just wanted to get a few opinions! I appreciate all the answers! :)
Can I ask my Dr. for a certain antidepressant? Would that be crossing the line with his medical expertise?
I just got a presc. for lamotrigine to treat major depression and mood disorder. She's starting me on only 25mg and increasing in 2 weeks...I do not have seizures...There are many symptoms I'm having but the main one is that I"m constantly overwhelmed with my identity and problems. Also, My emotions rule my life, i'm impulsive. So overwhelmed to stagnation. Multitalented and very creative but can't make anything happen. Short fuze. sleep way too much. PTSD. Borderline personality tendencies. I"m 37, beautiful, intelligent, extremely talented, funny (in groups) athletic, but miserable, depressed, scared to let anyone in my life (abusive relationships almost killed me), and single... Just some backround stuff...I'm scared of this rash that may cause permanent scarring. And I'm scared of hair loss. sounds like it's good for a lot of people with little side effects but the above sound horrible. I've been on a few antidepressants~ Effexor~ hated it!!, Lexapro, Zoloft, WEllbutrin. Do you know if the brand drug has less strange side effects and is better effective? Or is it just that it's bad to start with the brand then go to generic? When I was on brand Effexor then got a script for generic it sucked. But maybe it's ok if you start with generic?
what's your experience with Lamictal or Lamotrigine for treatment of depression?side effects?
Okay, I was prescribed Sertraline (the generic Zoloft) for depression/anxiety and I was taking 50 mg a day. After taking it for a while, it really helped me with my depression and anxiety. However, even though it seemed to help me out a lot.... it made my stomach hurt. My psychologist had my doctor prescribe me Sertraline knowing that I also smoke marijuana. Even though the medicine gave me stomach aches, I felt really good about myself so whenever my stomach would hurt I would just smoke pot to make me feel better.... which worked for the most part. I don't want to RELY on pot to make me feel better while taking my medication though. I was taking Sertraline for at LEAST 6 months when I made a decision to stop taking it completely. My reason for not taking it anymore: the bad stomach aches it gave me. I was a little worried to stop taking it, afraid that I would go back to feeling the way I did prior to taking the medication. I've been off of the Sertraline for 3 months or so, and I sometimes find myself fighting with negative feelings again. I WANT to start taking the medication again, but how do I go about the horrible stomach aches? Has this ever happened to anyone taking Sertraline? I've tried Wellbutrin and I couldn't even take it for a whole day, it made me feel like I was dying. I've figured out that Sertraline is what works for me.... it just makes me sick!!!!!!Somebody help please!!!
Why does Sertraline (Zoloft) make me sick?

Why does Sertraline (Zoloft) make me sick?
Ok here's the deal:I went on Zoloft at the beginning of September to help with freshmen year college anxiety. It worked wonders for my social anxiety, but it did lead to a 15+ pound weight gain. This weight gain was NOT the "freshmen 15." I am extremely obsessive about my weight and refuse to eat the junk they serve here. I don't eat any meat besides fish, and my biggest meal of the day consists of tuna on salad with a lot of veggies and low fat balsamic vinaigrette dressing. I went to my doctor with my concerns and she said that the Zoloft probably messed with my metabolism. So she put me on Wellbutrin XL (generic). I have been on 300 mg for about four weeks now. Despite exercising for an hour each day and eating healthily, I feel as though I have lost absolutely nothing. I am scared to weigh myself because whenever I do now, I go into another fit of depression! I do not have the appetite suppressant feeling that a lot of people talk about on Wellbutrin. I do however feel as though I am extremely alert and focused and get a lot more done in the day, which is probably a good sign of my metabolism returning to normal?I have also been suffering from a compulsive "eating disorder not otherwise specified," chew & spit for about a year and a half. If you don't know, it's exactly what it sounds like, when I am stressed or sad I will chew a bunch of sweets or forbidden foods up and then spit them out. Gross I know. I have read that doing this can raise insulin levels and make it very difficult to lose weight (although I actually lost weight when I wasn't on any anti-depressants). Since being on Wellbutrin I have been able to start weening off of this disgusting behavior, but do still mess up sometimes. My question is, if I fully quit this eating disorder behavior, continue to diet and exercise, but still take Wellbutrin (I feel like it's helping), will I eventually be able to lose this weight? I feel like I should have seen results by now, but maybe I have to be more patient...I have heard that Wellbutrin is not supposed to cause weight GAIN but will it actually allow me to LOSE if I keep working at it? I couldn't lose on Zoloft no matter how hard I tried. Thanks for any answers.
Wellbutrin XL weight loss/eating disorder?
I recently called my doctor and he changed me from Bupropin Generic to Budeprion Generic which is the Extended Release Version. I did the new Budeprion for 3 weeks and went through living hell. Could not function and was severly depressed for no reason and had suicide thoughts. I am very active and all I wanted to do was sleep. I was very anxious when I changed the meds and felt like I had pressure on the center of my chest all day long. I finally googled and saw that everyone that had switched from Generic Wellbutrin to the new extended release formula went nuts. I called my Doctor and went in for a visit. I went back to the standard wellbutrin but It is still not working? I am thinking about going to cymbalta to see if that helps. I am so not my self and I am wondering if my testosterone is low? I am tired, cloudy headed, no sex drive, lethargic, no drive to do things like I used to? Not sure if getting on the bad budeprion has done me in or what? Anyone have suggestions
Switched from Wellbutrin to Cymbalta...Horror Story?
I have just started to take Wellbutrin (Budeprion XL 150) in generic form. I have been on other AD's before such as lexapro and had no side effects when drinking. I am a social drinker at times and when I go home for a visit that is the only way to actually see most of my old friends. I am a very happy and upbeat drunk and am afraid that next time I go home and drink things may be different while on this drug. I have researched and read all the horribul things that can happen....ie. blacking out, violent behavior....peeing in the corner of their boyfriends room....but along with that there was no history from any previous medications(which condition they were treating) and how they reacted to those as well. Please if you have taken any other AD's before/after taking wellburtrin what kind of reactions did you have?
Whats the truth about drinking while taking Wellbutrin?
I've recently switched from name brand Wellbutrin XL to the generic Budurpion XL for the second time. The first time I was taking 300mg, and when I switched to generic 300mg i noticed major mood swings especially at night. So I switched back to name brand, but I noticed the side effects were too much...so the doc changed dosage to 150 mg. I was flying high and doing great, when suddenly they came out with generic 150mg and I had to switch for insurance purposes....and of course, it's Budurpion. Well, one week on it and i'm going crazy already. My question is, has anyone had the same thing happen to them with the SR? I noticed that the generic for SR was Bupriopion, not Budurpion, is there a difference between the two generics?
Is generic Wellbutrin SR better that generic Wellbutrin XL?
I was on Wellbutrin XL 2 years ago and was loosing steady amount of weight. I went off it due to the expense and a year later went on the generic. I started gaining wieght as steadily as I lost it. I decided to go brand name dispite the expense to loose the wieght I gained. To my surprise It is making it impossible for me loose wieght no matter how well I eat and exersize. I intake 1200 cal a day, and I exersize at least 30mins. daily. No matter what I do I cannot loose weight. And now I have to go back on the generic so I'll probably gain even more. It's not a good idea to get off the meds cuase when I did I my depression came back right away. The meds actually do the job that's needed, but I can't loose wieght and it's frustrating becuase I try really hard. I need to loose 30lbs to be at a healthy weight. My family has history of heart attacks from being overweight, and I don't want to be one of them. Can the doc perscribe me something to aid in wieght loss while on my meds
Is there something a doc could perscribe me to help me loose the weight i'm gaining from antidepressants?
I have been taking Wellbutrin (not generic...that was really bad for me) for depression for about 3 yrs. For the last few months I have been feeling very anxious and irratable and have not been sleeping. Sleep meds like Ambien & Lunesta help for a few weeks and then stop working. I have been thinking that perhaps the wellbutrin is the problem and think the reason it is affecting me this way is that I don't need it any more. I forgot my pills when I went away for the weekend and took the chance on stopping cold turkey. It has been 4 days and I still feel like crap. I don't feel suicidal or anything. I just feel like I have the flu or something. I would like to get it all out of my system and see how I do without any meds. I think people stay on these meds longer than they need to and hope that is the case with me. If I feel depressed again I will try something else. Others I tried before the wellbutrin had terrible sexual side effects. That was worse than being depressed!
