I have been having some tummy trouble....?

I currently take the antidepressant Remeron. It works very well for me, and I am quite pleased with it. My depression has been in remission since January, I've gained weight (I was previously underweight), and, oddly enough, it's even helped with my allergies (no kidding! It's sort of like an antihistamine, so it's not terribly unusual). However, recently, I've started sleepwalking. I'm a young adult, so this is rather unusual, and since there have been no other changes to my diet or lifestyle, I have to assume that it's the Remeron. I sleepwalked some as a child and young teenager (very infrequently, about once or twice a year), and my brother sleepwalked nearly every night until he was about ten. It's pretty infrequent (about once a week at the moment, according to my housemates), and is a fairly recent development (this first happened about a month ago). I haven't done anything too dangerous, like attempt to drive, yet, but I have cooked and eaten food and gone outside in my sleep. I didn't think it was a huge deal, probably because I grew up with my brother always sleepwalking and just got used to it, but my psychiatrist became very worried when I told her about this. If I start sleepwalking more frequently than once a week, she wants to switch my medication. This is not something I want to do--Remeron has helped me so much, and there is really no medication on the market like it, at least in the US. I had abnormally bad reactions to SSRIs (severe insomnia, i.e., going without sleep for three days at a time; flu-like symptoms; severe constipation [I couldn't even have a small bowel movement without the use of a laxative]; significant weight loss; nearly constant dizziness so bad I could barely walk from one room to another, let alone drive or do anything productive, etc.), so switching to something like Lexapro or Zoloft is not an option. Also, similar meds, like SNRIs, are out. Ideally, I would like to keep taking the Remeron and just add something else to it to get rid of the sleepwalking. Off-label would be fine. Does anyone have any ideas? I've read that Wellbutrin and Remeron are often taken together. Would Wellbutrin's stimulating effect help to take the edge off some of Remeron's sedative effect, and therefore help with the sleepwalking?I would like to switch to a similar drug, but Remeron is the only drug of its class approved in the US! Is there any drug available in the US that works similarly to Remeron, or even a cocktail of drugs I can take to get a similar effect? Again, off-label is fine, so long as it's reasonable enough to get my shrink to agree with it.Finally, are there any home remedies I can try for sleepwalking, or anything I can do to keep it under control? I don't live alone, so I do have people to keep me from getting into dangerous situations. There's a bell on my bedroom door to alert my housemates that I'm up and about. Is there anything else I/we can do?Thanks in advance!



Sleepwalking on Remeron--what to do (long)?

Currently i am on 150mg Wellbutrin XR, the only side effect i got from this medicine is Sever constipation. I have to take anti- constipation medicines and natural stuff to go every night. I also had constipation due to Effexor XR. I am going to ask my doc to put me on Strattera next time. I never got constipation from SSRIs(Prozac and Celexa) My question is,Why this medicines cause constipation ? what is the content in it that causes this side effect ? Will Strattera cause constipation considering i had constipation from Wellbutrin and Effexor-XR ? Thanks for your consideration and reply.



Constipation from antidepressants...?

I took Wellbutrin SR to quit smoking over 3 years ago. I had all the side effects you read about (insomnia, constipation, weight loss). I've just begun taking it again today. I'm curious as to whether I'll experience the same side effects, or if your body "remembers" and therefore you don't experience them as you did the first time. Interestingly enough, after being in my system for less than six hours I already noticed the effect on the "taste" of cigarettes. It's interesting that it happened so quickly. As I remember it took about a week to notice the side effects. Also, I did take it about it six months ago, but only for about 2 weeks.



How long does Wellbutrin SR stay in your body?

Hi, I've been having vertigo and poor muscle coordination for the past 2 years, I am shaking constantly--people point it out at work. I have chest pressure and a popping bubble pain when I breathe in 2-3 times daily. I fall over every 2 days or so (slowly and awkwardly). I am 21, exercise 2 times a week and have a very active sex life. I have had RBD since I was young, a sleep disorder where I physically act out my dreams in bed. (when I take melatonin this activity is enhanced). I have been on beta blockers for high BP, had an MRI a few years back, been checked for stigmatisms in the eyes.minimal anxiety.I'm now on an aspirin regiment and have normal BP.I take a multitude of heart health vitamins.flawless vision.constipation, often. I chew tobacco. drink socially, never binge.I have been perscribed at separate times by my x-crazy psychiatrist:adderall xr(took for a few months)dex(2mon)wellbutrin(a week, caused apathy)lexapro(' ')lamictal (2 months, caused lymphnode swelling)abilify(1 month)what the hell is going on?the vertigo and clumsiness is embarrassing and disabling. parkinsons? MS? pituitary dysfunction? hypoglycemia etc?



Vertigo, Clumsiness and Shaking--help docs!?

Okay, I'm a 21 y/o female and have been taking meds for depression and anxiety. I'm going to talk to the nurse pract at my university today on the phone. I'm def going to request she taper me off my current meds paxil and wellbutrin they're not working. I'm sicker than before. I've missed a lot of class and somedays I can't get out of bed. Also, lately, I've been suffering for constipation and vomiting. Ummm. not sure what that is from. The wellbutrin was causing me to shake in my sleep...my mom told me. The nurse prac. told me to stop it completely. I asked her would that make me sick; she said I should be fine. Well, I tried and I wasn't fine. I wound up sicker than on the meds, and had to just keep taking them. I went to accute care and they referred me to a psychiatrist that isn't accepting new patients. I went some places and called around and wound up at square one back with the nurse pract that's rude to me. Last time I told her the meds were making me sick; she said well what do you want to do, do you want to keep taking them. I just got a phone call from the nurse. She says the nurse prac isn't even there but should be in later today. She asked me what was going on. I told her and told her I wanted to be taken off both meds b/c they're not correcting the symptoms but just added side effects. She told me she'd tell the nurse pract. I'm sort of exhausted. I'm tired of having to talk to someone to talk to someone to talk to someone to talk to who I need to. This is the second time I've had to explain what's going on just today and the person that can help me isn't even there. I know this is long but I'm a really patient person, but I've been on meds for almost half my life and I'm at one of the lowest points in my life and the people that re PAID to help me act like I'm a bother. So what should I do? Should I go off the meds completely? Or is there a new drug out there that's effective for someone with very severe depression and anxiety? I say new b/c I've been on just about everything now. I don't know why this stuff doesn't work or it just works for a few months and stops. Thanks so much for reading this and any info you can give me, I'm obviously lost.

I took Wellbutrin XL about 2 years ago, and was feeling great, dropping weight, and had really no adverse side effects. I got off it a while cause I couldn't afford it. Then the generic Buderpion comes out, so I go on that. I gained weight on that, and it didn't really work. In the meantime, I started taking cranberry suppliments, a one a day mulitivitamin, ginger root, and green tea suppliments to counter the bad side effects from the generic. Now I'm still taking suppliments, but I'm back on the name brand wellbutrin XL, but it's cuaseing me side effects that I didn't have before. It's cuased my period to be late (a blood test showed I wasn't prego) constipation, and gas (only late at night), and i haven't seemed to loose a pound yet. My question is this, Are these side different side effects (that were never there before when i took it 2 years ago) from combining Wellbutrin with the herbal supps, or am I still getting rid of the generic in my system? It's been 3 weeks.



Are my herbal supplements creating different side effects while taking Wellbutrin XL?

I've been constipated for the past month or so. I'm pretty sure it's the Wellbutrin my psych just added to my meds about a month ago. I can't discontinue the med. I've been using Benefiber (for fiber intake) and colace (stool softener) and increased water intake since it started, without much help. I strain very hard without any success. I tried drinking mineral oil and senna laxatives, and I've been having to give myself an enema even just to go at all, and even then, I have to manually PULL the stool out (very hard, dark green clumps that are pretty small--seem small enough that I should be able to pass) with gloves on of course, and there is a LOT of yellow-green mucus in my stool that passes easily. The hemorrhoids I had at first were pretty manageable, but now there's one that is HUGE (from the top of anus to bottom of vagina), looks bright pink and is excruciatingly painful. i used to be able to push it back in, no problem, but now it won't go and is too painful to even touch



What can I do about this constipation and hemorrhoids? (serious, coherent answers only, please)?

I'm taking wellbutrin 150 mg a day.....I have slight decreased appetite, constipation, energy spurts off and on through out the day but almost always have to take a short nap because i'm so tired, social anxiety, mood swings, crazy itching from scalp to feet that has decreased as i've been taking the pill daily, i've been on it so far going on two weeks....and i'm wondering if maybe i :1.need more time to allow it to work,2. increase the dosage or 3.try something else. I feel like i'm energized in the morning and by the time the afternoon comes im so sleepy and i usually end up taking a nap because i'm so sleepy. I havent noticed any weight loss yet and part of the my depression stems from my weight because i used to be on cymbalta and it made me gain so much weight :(.....i just usually here that wellbutrin is supposed to keep you up at night and help you lose weight and my side effects are nothing like that...its brand name wellbutrin xl

wellbutrin...not working??

I just started taking Wellbutrin and I'm noticing that I'm getting severe constipation. I have anal fissure due to this. I already have IBS to begin with. Has anyone had constipation with this antidepressant?
