Anyone taking " CYMBALTA" ?

Im 18 weeks pregnant and i smoke yea i know this is bad and im tryin to quit...but easier said then done ya know....well anyway i told my doc and she perscribed me something that would help its called wellbutrin xl its an anti depressent i dont really understand why she would perscribe me this....cause the side affects are horrible like loss of weight, loss of appetite, ringin in ears, stomach pain, dry mouth and some people actually have seizures! Thats not all of them but those are the ones i can think of off the top of my head...my husband doesnt want me to take them and he wont let me get them filled...he does want me to quit smoking but he said there has to be something else we can do....what i want to know is...what should i do should i go ahead and try those pills and see if they work or do you think i should try something else and if so what else can i try? Thanks...

Have anyone taken wellbutrin xl?

I am living in the UK for work and my depression has become severe (I just scored a '39' on the BDI and similarly high on social anxiety), and so I do believe I need to be immediately medicated. Because the NHS system means that it could be months before I see a psychiatric specialist, however, the prescriptions are written by general physicians who are not properly trained in mental health. They are happy to dole out SSRIs, but that's about it. I've been on Effexor, Lexapro, and Prozac (not for very long). With all of these, I experienced weight gain, fatigue, flat affect, and anorgasmia. I was prescribed Wellbutrin XL before moving to the UK, and although I didn't experience these negative side effects, I wasn't on it long enough to determine if it worked (only a few weeks). Because Wellbutrin is not approved as an antidepressant in the UK, however, they will not prescribe it here for that purpose. They're very strict about off-label usage and can lose their license, apparently...Christina W--that's all fine and good, the conspiracy theories, but how does it help those of us who genuinely need medication?



Given these symptoms and side effects...best SSRI?

I'm currently on Lexapro and it's ruining my sex life. The only good thing is it doesn't cause weight gain. I was on paxil and zoloft and they caused weight gain. I hear wellbutrin xl isn't supposed to cause side effects sexually. what are some other good meds that don't cause sexual side effects and don't affect weight?

I am a manic depression disorder mess. I've been treated with Wellbutrin, Paxil, Neurontin for 8 yrs & Topamax for the past 2+ yrs. 5 weeks ago Topamax was replaced with Depakote because of headaches. My problem is I'm gaining weight, my hair is falling out, I'm tired and having tremors now which is throwing me into a deep depression. I need to replace the Depakote with something that that will help me sleep sound avoiding nightmares, balance with Paxil for panic attacks & Wellbutrin XL for depression, Nuerontin for pain & nerve sensations. I also take Adivan when I'm out of control. I know meds are a balancin****t & patience is a virtue, but I'm about ready to jump out of my skin ~ wish I could just run away from myself. All those racing thoughts, fearfulness, and feeling all alone ~ will I ever be At 14 my fight w/depression & panic began and in my 20's mania arrived, my mania shows up about 2x a year. At 50 I'm asking for real input from other Bi-Polars on what helps them cope?I've changed psychiatrist 5wks ago, I've also tried Xanax which made me feel antsy and I had more suicidal fleeting thoughts. I'm considering going back to Topamax or asking for Abilify. Does anyone take Lexapro? Topamax and Dupakote are normally used for seizures, they were prescribed for my broken sleep patterns and nightmares, Topamax by my old psychiatrist, Dupakote by my new doctor. I've also seen my regular doctor within the last 4 months. I am looking for alternative meds to ask my psychiatrist about trying, or treatments. My Bipolar is considered border line severe and I have been on highest doses allowed. My new Psych doc is also counseling me on methods to help me control what I can.
