Is wellbutrin XL safe during pregnancy? And breastfeeding?

Can breastfeeding moms be prescribed anti depressant medication like wellbutrin? I have a friend who was on it postpartum but she had stopped breastfeeding by then. Are there things post partum breastfeeding moms can do to improve their mood and wellbeing if meds are contraindicated? If you went through this especially what would you suggest?

Breastfeeding and psych meds?

Hi I am just starting 150 mg of wellbutrin extended release tabs and still breast feed two times daily should I stop? it would be directly before taking the pill? I couldnt find any stuff on it. wellbutrin breastfeeding has anyone done this?

I am currently taking 60mg of Cymbalta and 150mg of Wellbutrin XL, prenatal vitamins, stool softeners, clarinex 5mg. My husband and I are trying to conceive #2 and I wasn't on any of these meds with my first pregnancy, so I have no clue what the risks are. It seems that every medicine you read has that warning: do not use while pregnant or breastfeeding OR consult your doctor before taking if you suspect you are pregnant. I already have an appointment with my OBGYN to get her input, and my psychiatrist has given me mixed messages. I really don't know what to believe. I know that I don't want to chance putting my unborn child at risk. And just to let you all know, I am not currently pregnant, we have been using other methods until we figure this all out. Any of you out there with experience in this.....PLEASE HELP!!! I am SO lost as to what to do! Neither can I, nor my family live without me on my meds! Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!!

Meds during Pregnancy...?

She was moderately depressed before the pregnancy and was on Wellbutrin at the time which seemed to help some. Now that she is exclusively breastfeeding, she cannot take any prescriptions, but is always getting upset to the point of crying and is very shy in some social settings (especially around friends). Last night we had some people over and I was just joking around with her and although i was just kidding with her she took it very seriously and started crying. I felt terrible as our guests had to leave and that I made her cry. When they left she calmed down, but the next morning (today) she lost it and started crying. When i apologized she said it's not that (meaning the night before) but that she is just fed up with staying at home with our son. I offered to stay home while she worked full time since she hates being at home all the time. She was really for it and we will be looking into this this weekend. What should i do to help her through this hard time?? God Bless

My wife and I had a baby 2mo ago and she is very irritable, cannot sit still and verbally combative. Advice??

Why?When did you go on it?Do you feel a difference?Do you think you will be on them forever?Did you experience any side effects?I have been prescribed Wellbutrin in my 9th month of pregnancy and was worried about the side effects on my baby when breastfeeding so I haven't started them and don't know if I will.please only answer if you actually have experience with antidepressants or with depression, don't just give your opinion when you have no experience.

Are there any moms who are on antidepressants?

my baby is nursing, but i would like wellbutrin. will a dr prescribe it? and if yes, would it be a normal dosage? thanks for any input from any woman that has taken wellbutrin while nursing...
