What do you take for Bipolar 2?
I haven't taken xanax or zoloft. How will they effect me?
What are side effects of zanax the first few days, and taking them with wellbutrin and zoloft?
I explained my situation much more thoroughly when I asked this question on a depression forum but since there's not all that much space here I'll just leave it to the absolute basics: I'm 21 and have been dealing with debilitating depression and anxiety for the last 8 years of my life. They've made it so that it is an extreme chore to do even the simplest tasks as well as made it next to impossible to leave the house due to how bad my social anxiety/panic attacks get. Over the last 8 years I've been on 14 different medications to treat these two issues, all of which have been either an anti-depressant or an anti-psychotic. Not a single one out of those 14 meds has done anything whatsoever to treat or reduce either issue; I get the bad side effects but nothing else.My doctor is now suggesting MAOIs (another anti-depressant) as a "last resort" medication since nothing else has worked, but considering how dangerous they are and how little other anti-depressants have helped, I feel like there's got to be a different or better way.If anyone has any experience with treating either depression or anxiety of their own or if anyone knows anything about pharmaceuticals or other treatments, I'd love to hear your input. These are the medications I have already been prescribed (and found unhelpful); some were taken simultaneously to augment each other.Anti-depressants: Zoloft, Paxil, Lexapro, Prozac, Elavil, Wellbutrin, Effexor, Cymbalta and LithiumAnti-psychotics: Risperdal, Zyprexa, Seroquel, Abilify and GeodonI feel I should also mention the non-prescription drug treatments I've tried as well over the years...these include herbal treatments, light therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, St. John's Wort, 5-HTP, exercising daily and supplements like omega-3, vitamin B and so on.Again, if anyone has any ideas or advice to offer, it would be much appreciated.
What other treatments are there for severe depression/anxiety other than anti-depressants and anti-psychotics?
I started taking Wellbutrin about a month ago. It makes me very irritable, angry, and short tempered. On the upside it gives me more energy, decreases my appetite, and increases my sex drive which were all issues when I was on Zoloft (that's why I switched). I'm having a very hard time dealing with the agitation and irritability. Is this side effect one that tends to stick around or does it subside over time?
Will the side effects I'm experiencing from Wellbutrin go away?
I've been on Wellbutrin for nine years, both generic and brand name, regular and SR, between 150mg to 300mg a day. The past few years it's felt like it's become less effective (I've been taking generic for cost reasons) and the side-effects have gotten worse, especially a ringing in my ears. Is there a drug chemically similar to Wellbutrin on the market? I tried two SSRIs last year -- Zoloft and Lexapro -- both of which had me sleeping 16 hours a day with no discernible benefit, so I've pretty much stayed away from that class of anti-depressant. I'm thinking I may need to up my dose and get back on the brand name Wellbutrin for it to start working again; the generic at 300mg made me too skittish, but anything lower than that seems to have little therapeutic effect. Naturally I'm going to discuss this with my doctor and I realize everyone has different reactions to these drugs, I just wanted to hear opinions and experiences to see what might work for me.
Replacement for Wellbutrin?
I have been doing research on this drug. Seems really good. Someone wrote their experience on it and says there is raving about this drug. At the website drugs.com there is more reviews for Lexapro than any other Depression drug. And yet it ranks higher than them all. But only a little bit. Still, Wellbutrin which gets a lot of good marks is .4 points less than Lexapro. It is out of 10. It has recorded less side effects and less chance of side effects too. Looks quite the medicine.CNN did a study and topped it with Zoloft as the most effective Antidepressant. At http://www.emedexpert.com/compare-meds/escitalopram.shtml , its shown stronger and with less side effects than all other SSRIs. Its more likely to be stable and more likely to have a remission. It has lesser chance of side effects too.It seems in every way better than all other SSRIs and more specific too. Is this true?
Is it true that Lexapro is cooler than the other SSRIs?
My doctor prescribed me Lexapro. I took only for a week because i was only getting 3 hours of sleep a night. She swicthed me to Zoloft. I have been taking for over 3 weeks. I feel very very anxious and i am almost sure my depression got worst. Now she wants me to take Wellbutrin. I really want to stop and exercise eat better and try to feel better on my own but my doctor keep saying that that wont be enough. I had a horrible childwood with an abusive father and i got out of a abusive 10 years old marriage 6 months ago. I avoid as much as i can being around people, My family lives 8000 miles away and i live with my cat whom i love very much. I am also concerned with long term side effects of this possible dangerous drugs?? My sister have been on Paroxetine for several years and is addicted to it. Please, only serious answers. Thank You.
Zoloft, Wellbutrin Lexapro? Should i stop taking?
Can switching from Prozac to another SSRI help with effectiveness? I have been on Prozac 40mg for about 10 years, feel like it is not working as well as it used to. Dr. prescribed Wellbutrin in addition to Prozac 3 days ago, didn't work out, horrible side effects, so they told me to discontinue it and follow-up next week. My insurance covers generic Zoloft, Celexa, and Paxil. Which one of these 3 has anyone had the best luck with? And has anyone else had to switch antidepressants (SSRI's in particular) due to ineffectiveness after a long period of time? Any experiences with this would be helpful, thanks.
Switching antidepressants?
i have taken prozac, wellbutrin, and cymbalta.with those 3 i have had extreme drousyness for like the first month every day on each of them. has anyone had that problem with zoloft? if so how long did it last for. also did it work for anxiety? i am starting zoloft at 25mg
wondering side effects of zoloft?
I was prescribed Celexa for general anxiety which seems to be magnified by severe PMS/PMDD. I took it for one day (yesterday) and felt HORRIBLE. The best way to describe it is Uggghhhhh. I was nauseated, couldn't sit still, couldn't move around, felt jumpy and extremely agitated. What's worse is that I couldn't focus at all. I'd start to talk and just forget I was saying anything mid sentence like a total zombie. There were parts of the day I couldn't remember. The worst was feeling like I was crawling out of my skin. I was really sensitive to sound- hearing someone talk or something fall on the floor made me want to cover my ears. I basically had to barricade myself in a room away from my family. My husband said I tossed and turned all night. I've read lots of people on different forums say "hang in there, it gets better". I know it's supposed to take a few weeks before you "feel the full benefits" but how anyone can deal with these side effects is beyond me. I was prescribed prozac several years ago for post-partum depression and had a total freak out episode after taking it for about a week. I was instructed to stop immediately. I told my current Dr. about this knowing that Celexa is another SSRI but she insisted I try it. After the Prozac episode, I was prescribed Wellbutrin which did absolutely nothing. Zoloft, tried that for a year and nothing also. With both the Wellbutrin and Zoloft I stopped cold -turkey and also....nothing. No withdrawls or side effects. It will be a cold day in hell before I EVER try anti-depressants again. Before beginning this utterly fruitless journey with anti-depressants, I tried the pill (which made me full blown depressed) and the depo shot (2 words- justifiable homicide) I am at my wit's end. I don't know what to make of this so am wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? If so, were you ever able to get it resolved?Am waiting for labs to come back on thyroid function. I am not entirely sure why my Dr. was in such a big hurry to put me on anti-depressants before reviewing these results but this month's "gift" is looming ahead this week and I hope I don't mow down any pedestrians or have to use the divorce papers my husband will inevitably serve me with to set my neighbor's yappy little dog on fire.
Celexa/Citalopram for Anxiety/PMS/PMDD?
First let me start by saying that I am extremely well-versed in the DSM and psychotropic pharmaceuticals. For the last few years I have been plagued by generalized anxiety and accompanying insomnia. I've gone to psychiatrist after psychiatrist, and they've always prescribed me some antidepressant or another, none of which ever work (and yes, I've obediently taken each for weeks or months at a time - plenty of time for their effects to kick in.) Prozac, Paxil, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Remeron, Effexor, Remeron WITH Effexor (California rocket fuel, as they call it, and it gave me crazy side effects), then Seroquel as an anxiolytic, even Benadryl and Trazodone. I'm like a guinea pig for the pharmaceutical industry, but nothing does anything good. The only thing that's ever taken away my anxiety and let me function without a constant state of crippling fear is benzodiazepines. My dad just started giving his to me, and my grandma used to as well years ago. I am currently taking 1 mg of Klonopin twice a day, and for the first time in almost a year I can wake up without shaking and freaking out about every worry in my life.Problem is, no shrink seems to be willing to prescribe me Klonopin or any other Benzo! I guess because I'm 26, they figure I'm some junkie who'll go off and get high on them or sell them or something. I'd been self-medicating with alcohol until my dad started giving me these pills, and again, for the first time in months I don't need to drink. Also, maybe the shrinks think I'll abuse the meds because I experimented with recreational drugs in my late teens (eyeroll, who doesn't?) This sucks. The only thing that helps me live a normal life and no one will prescribe it to me. What do I do? Please advise. The anxiety predated my use of alcohol, and I never "abused" the alcohol, I merely drank just enough to relieve my anxiety - the effects of a single drink.
